The award
of the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize to an organization working for the abolition of
all nuclear weapons reflects the hopes of millions of people around the world,
that one day these weapons, weapons that are capable of destroying the world
will be consigned to history.
The fact that the president of the USA, the most
powerful nation in the world continues to support them will be seen as a moment
of shame in their past.
Future generations will look back and wonder how
a nation guided by a Constitution of the founding fathers could have sunk so
low as to believe that ‘war, war, war,’ was better than ‘jaw, jaw, jaw’ to
paraphrase Winston Churchill, one the worlds greatest leaders
